Boot Connector Considerations

May 21, 2019 0 Comment

When using boot connector's in manholes, there are a variety of considerations that must be taken into account when deciding which boot is the best fit (pun intended) for your project.

First and foremost there has to be an understanding of at least a couple different points that can determine which connector is ideal.

  1. What size hole are you trying to seal?
  2. What size/type of pipe will be utilized?
  3. What is the size of the manhole?
    • Is it round?
    • Square?
    • Straight wall?
    • Are you coring or casting holes?
    • Are you looking for a cast-in product?

No Two Boot Connectors Are The Same

Adding to the complex nature of deciding which boot connector is the most suitable for your project is the fact that not all boots are the same when it comes to installation or functionality. When it comes to connection type you have:

Each of these boot connectors provides the necessary sealing performance required for the job and each requires a different level of installation. Some require lubing, while others do not. Others require installation wrenches, while some do not.

Additional Considerations

And finally, there are key elements to boot connectors that you may not know about when making your decision.

In certain parts of the country welds or rivets are not allowed or they may even require multiple adjusters that you often find in mechanical boots.

Some boot connectors require installation tools that are calibrated to specific limits. For instance, our PSX: Direct Drive or Nylo Drive has specific installation wrenches that are calibrated and certified for the proper installation each and every time.

So the next time you’re searching for the proper boot connector for your project, take into consideration the variance’s in each product and if you need further assistance, please contact our customer service department to get you into the right product today!
